The FA is happy to confirm that this year's
Nationwide Women's U17 International Tournament will be held in the South
West of England between 10-14 April 2006.
Lois Fidler's squad will take on the Republic of
Ireland and Holland in their two group games at Clevedon Town and Forest
Green Rovers, whilst Group B will feature Scotland, Northern Ireland
and the USA.
The tournament, which will span the Easter Weekend,
will enable spectators young and old to see some of the most exciting
emerging talent, and to encourage big crowds, The FA has agreed that all
games will have free admission.
Chelsea's Ellen White, who
scored both goals for the U17s in their last game against Switzerland
in October, will again feature - alongside three Leeds United
players who will be looking to get a taste of this year's FA Women's
Cup Final, where they take on Arsenal on 1 May.
England lost 3-1 to the United States in the
final of last year's Women's U17 International Tournament
in Curracloe, County Cork.
After a goalless first half,
Fulham's Natasha Dowie gave Jane
Ebbage's side the lead on 42 minutes but a double-strike midway
through the first half from the USA ended any hopes England had of
successfully defending the tournament they had won in 2004.
Those
goals were followed by another in injury time as the US claimed the
title.
