Hibs U 15s 8 : Crichton Girls 1

A dull but dry Sunday saw Hibs U15
Girls take on Dumfries-based Crichton Girls in the Scottish Cup.
Much of the initial play was concentrated in the middle of the park but
Hibs soon found their form and went ahead through Laura S when Rosie laid the
ball in her path to convert from 6 yards out.
The Hibs midfield got into their rhythm with Gemma, Rosie and Emma taking
control. Charlotte and Emma had several great runs on the left wing whilst
Dionne and Gillian were causing problems for the Crichton defense alongside the
ever-lively Laura S.
Rosie was unlucky not to score when the keeper saved her shot on the line.
It was only a matter of time before Hibs increased their lead and it was
Emma who made it two when the keeper fumbled her speculative cross ball.
Crichton had a number of attacks but Rebekah, Melia and Coral in the Hibs
defense easily mopped these up whilst goalkeeper Laura C had little to trouble
her.
Hibs went 3 ahead after a terrific flowing attack culminated in a Laura S
overhead volley that flew high into the net. Laura S got her hat trick shortly
afterwards when she bundled the ball over the line to give Hibs a 4-0 lead.
Gillian then rattled the post with a tremendous drive from 18 yards.
Crichton almost pulled one back until Rebekah managed to clear the danger.
The half ended with some excellent dribbling skills from Rosie in the box who
was unlucky not to score.
Hibs were quickly on the attack in
the second half and almost went further ahead from a great strike from Gemma
that was well saved by the keeper.
Crichton pulled one back through Alana with a fine shot five minutes into the
second half as the Hibs defense was caught square.
This seemed to spur Hibs on and good play from Rebekah at the back and
Bryoni and Gillian on the wings demonstrated their ascendancy.
Danni re-instated the 4 goal lead with a low shot that fooled the keeper.
Laura S then struck the bar after a superb run and pass from
Charlotte
.
Hibs continued to press and Rosie was unlucky with a header from a Danni
corner.
Crichton were always dangerous
however and Coral had to be lively to retrieve the ball in the box as the
Crichton attack surged forward. Melia
also had to make a last minute tackle to prevent Crichton doubling their score.
It was another great run by
Charlotte
that
found Dionne to make it 6-1. Emma
should have made it 7-1 after her amazing run past the entire Crichton defense
only to place the ball wide. The pleasure of seventh heaven fell to Dionne when
she followed up an Emma shot to tap in from 3 yards.
Emma made it 8-1 with a carbon copy of her first goal when her looping
shot from the wing ended up in the back of the net.
It was an excellent attacking
performance from the Hibs Girls against their young opponents that saw them go
through to the next round to face Paisley Saints at St Augustines.
