Hibs Girls U15 1 : Falkirk 4
Played at St Augustine’s Playing Fields,
Edinburgh on 17th December 2005
Hibs were quickly on the attack with Gillian and Rosie
testing the Falkirk defence. Falkirk
were strong in attack as well and the Hibs defence had to be on their guard to
repel their lively forwards.
A Coral free kick on 24 minutes came close but it was
Falkirk who increased their lead on 26 minutes when Adele converted.
Falkirk kept up the pressure and forced a number of corners.
Although Dionne came close just before halftime it was the visitors who
went in to the break 2-0 ahead.
Bryoni and Laura S replaced Rosie and Danni in a more
attack minded formation in the second half.
Anja replaced Laura C at right back. The new strike force almost paid off
when Dionne hit the post having been put through by Coral.
Hibs managed to pull one back shortly after however when Dionne netted
from an acute angle with a shot high into the net.
Hibs almost equalised when an Anja through ball found Dionne.
Coral was injured in clearing off the line to prevent
Hibs going further behind but later recovered.
Rebekah M played a great ball through to Dionne but was thwarted by the
Falkirk defence. The Falkirk attack continued to impress and they went 3-1 ahead
through Nicola. Hibs tried hard to stay in the match but it was the visitors who
increased their lead when Jennifer scored with a break on the right wing to make
it 4-1.
Although the 4-1 scoreline was perhaps a little harsh
on Hibs the strong running and stamina of the Falkirk side was impressive.
There were nevertheless a lot of good movement from the Hibs Girls and
things look certain to improve as they get back to match fitness.
