Hibs U15 Girls 5 : Hutcheson Vale U15 Girls 2.

Played at St Augustines Edinburgh on Saturday 22 April 2006.

A dry and sunny morning saw Hibs take on local rivals Hutchie Vale in the League Cup.

Both teams looked lively early on as usual in such games.  It was Hibs however who made the better of their attacks with Rosie forcing a corner on the right.   A minute later Laura made the breakthrough with a looping shot over the keeper to give Hibs a 1-0 lead.

Emma almost added another but her shot went just over the bar.

Hutchie mounted a series of attacks and were repelled by good defending from Charlotte, Coral, Rebekah in defence with great assistance from Danni and Marielle.

Hibs had some good runs on the right from Bryony and Gillian but play settled into a midfield battle.

Hibs however doubled their lead when Laura netted from close range after great work from Emma on the right.

Bryony then came with a snapshot that the keeper parried on 30 minutes whilst Emma almost scored after being put through by Gillian.  Hutchie almost pulled one back just before halftime but for a great save by Laura in the Hibs goal.

Halftime : Hibs 2 Hutchie Vale 0

Hibs were quickly on the attack in the second half with a good run from Gemma on the right.  It was Hutchie who came close to scoring however and a last minute tackle from Rebekah saved the day.

Hutchie pressure paid of when they pulled one back through Robyn after a mix-up in the Hibs defence.

Hibs countered shortly afterwards when Emma restored their 2 goal advantage with a powerful left foot shot into the net off the post.

Hutchie almost pulled another one back a little later but Charlotte managed to clear for a corner. Laura saved from a free kick to deny Hutchie as Hibs required stout defending as Hutchie upped the pace.

Emma eased the situation for Hibs when she made it 4-1 by firing in following an excellent cross from Laura.

Hutchie immediately pulled one back when Rachael netted to make it 4-2.

A great run from Gemma on the right just before full time ended with her lobbing the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area, although Emma may claim she got the final touch to make her hat-trick. This capped a fine performance as Hibs ran out 5-2 winners.
