Murieston United Girls 1 : Hibs U 15s Girls 4

Played at Bankton Mains, Livingston   on 11 February 2006

A dry but bitterly cold Saturday saw Hibs U15 Girls back in league action against Murieston United Girls.

Hibs were immediately on the attack with Gemma weaving her way through the Murie defence.  Murie countered and Laura C had to be sharp to clear the danger.  Hibs moved back on the attack and Rosie shot over the bar from just inside the box. She then put Gemma through but her shot went just wide. Hibs kept up the pressure with Dionne and Laura S both being unlucky with shots on the Murie goal.

It was Emma who broke the deadlock however with an amazing left foot shot following a tremendous run through the Murie defense. Hibs almost increased their lead with a flick from Gillian after a corner from Emma.  The infrequent Murie attacks were well contained by Coral, Rebekah, Charlotte and Laura C in the Hibs defense.

Hibs were quickly on the attack in the second half and Rosie put Gillian through with a well placed ball.  Gillian was brought down in the box and the referee had no choice but to award a penalty kick.  Coral stepped up to take it and tucked it away into the corner of net to make it 2-0.

This spurred Murie into action and they almost pulled one back.   Hibs were very dangerous on the counter attacks particularly on the flanks with great runs from Emma with support from Charlotte on the left and Bryoni and Laura S on the right.  Gillian was again unlucky not to score with another through ball from Rosie.

Murie took every opportunity to attack however and Nikki had to be quick to clear on the edge of her box.  This led to a Hibs counter attack and Emma made it 3-0 with a shot from the angle of box.  Hibs were now in full flow and Gillian deservedly got the 4th with a beautiful chip over the keeper from just inside the 18-yard box.

Murie pulled one back though and Nikki had to save to stop them scoring again, but in the end Hibs ran out comfortable 4-1 winners to continue their run of good form.
