Hibs 2 Whitehill Welfare 2Hibs Girls warmed up for the second half of the season with a friendly against Scottish 1st division women's team Whitehill Welfare. It was a giant test for the young Hibs girls who earned a creditable draw. Both teams should benefit from the run out hopefully blowing away any cobwebs accumulated over the Christmas break before returning to league action next Sunday. Whitehill had four ex-Hibs girls in their side and it was good to see how they are progressing in the senior ranks. In what turned out to be an evenly fought match Hibs took the lead just before the hour mark when Lisay Boyd drilled a well placed shot from the edge of the box past the Whitehill keeper after good work from Lindsay Broadfoot and Tricia McLaughlin. Hibs went further ahead in the 70th minute when Lisay Boyd drove past three defenders into the box and calmly slotted into the net. Whitehill then began to come more into the game and ex-Hibs Girl Diana Barry was the main tormentor running at the now tiring Hibs youngsters and it was only two minutes after Hibs second that Kayley Ralton upended the aforementioned Miss Barry in the box to allow another ex-Hibs Girl Danni Pagliarulo to score from the resultant spot-kick. Ten minutes from the end Diana Barry's mazy run and shot was well saved by Louise Kedslie only to fall at the feet of ex-Hibs Girl number 3 Steph Allison who poked the ball home. Ex-Hibs girl number 4 Kirsty Young was the pick of the Whitehill defence. As for the Hibs Girls everyone of them were absolutely brilliant thanks for the effort and fighting spirit.
